The University of Pennsylvania is a prestigious Ivy League university based in Philadelphia, PA and one of the nine original colonial colleges. It’s roots and reputation go far back, and over 24,000 total students attend the university each year. The staging for UPenn’s graduation ceremony is anything but traditional, and Mountain Productions has been a part of the production for years.

The main ceremony takes place on Franklin Field, and is mainly comprised of outdoor decking and two large scaffold walls. On the center stage deck, a custom canopy shade is built to extend out toward the downstage edge, providing a distinctive look to their ceremony. Scaffold towers are erected to support video panels and speaker clusters, and the orientation of the printed scrim panels are hung on a diagonal plane inside the scaffolding that creates a unique visual backdrop for the stage.
