The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City that marks the grand opening of the institute’s fashion exhibit. Celebrities, models, and musical icons all show their support for the cause and celebrate the fashion industry at the Met Gala event.

In 2015, the theme of the gala was “China: Through the Looking Glass”, which evoked outfits and fashion statements inspired by the theme. Naturally, an event of this scale and concept required ornate décor to match. Mountain Productions assisted this effort by providing the understructure for a 12,500 pound giant chinoiserie vase that stood for the event. The substructure was designed with truss towers and grid to support the elaborate exterior scenic.
